COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF VEHICLE EFFECT ON SKIN PENETRATIONOF ACTIVE INGREDIENTS BY A MODEL BASED ON METHYL NICOTINATE.
In order to test the effect of crackling technology on improving the bioavailability of ingredients incorporated in cosmetics formulations, a suitable protocol has been developed, based on the thermographic analysis of skin areas treated with products under study, specifically functionalized with methyl nicotinate, a rubefacient agent used as a marker for analysis. Thermal infrared camera allowed to measure the variation of the basal skin temperature, at different times during a 60 minutes period, after the application of Crackling Water, developed with Crackling Technology, and two reference products.
The rise in skin temperature reflects the hyperemia induced by methyl nicotinate and can therefore be considered indicative of its great penetration through the skin. The results showed that the Crackling Water causes, in the first 15 minutes, a greater increase in temperature in the area application compared to the reference products. In particular, the best results were recorded after 10 minutes, with statistically significant values with respect to those before application (T0) only in the C area (p <0,05). This indicates a greater bioavailability of methyl nicotinate vehiculated into the Crackling Water. In the next times of investigation the three formulations showed a thermographic pattern essentially homogeneous, pointing out that the most significant differences are observed on the initial phase of appearance of the phenomenon.
